Dr Aloysius Achusiogu

Aloysius is an Adelaide-based Family Physician, who also spends part of his time practicing in underserved communities in rural and remote parts of Australia.
He enjoys engaging in the activities of his local community as a volunteer in various roles including in his local Church. He is an excellent community mobilizer and leader, an attribute which saw him become the President of the Igbo Community in South Australia from 2016 to 2018 and facilitated the tremendous growth of the Association under his leadership. His desire to contribute to his community saw Aloysius, an Army Reserve Medical Officer, deploy with the Australian Army to Kangaroo Island in early 2020 in support of Operation Bushfire Assist 2019-2020.
Aloysius is always looking for ways to make a difference in the various communities in which he finds himself. Having grown up in Nigeria, he has personally experienced the difficulties involved in acquiring basic education and the hard choices that many parents are forced to make just to see their children through elementary school.

These experiences have therefore solidified his belief that education should be a right. This grim situation inspired Aloysius to, in the last few years, offer scholarships privately to a number of students; and now, he believes it is time to expand this initiative and formalise it as a way to increase the number of people helped. His vision for the expansion of this initiative is inline with the statement by the United Nations that education and healthcare should not be for a select few but for all.
Armed with a medical degree, MB.BS, from the University of Benin (Nigeria) and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) as well as a Master in Public Health (MPH) degree (Flinders University), Aloysius is ready and motivated to help improve the lives of the less privileged. He believes this will be achievable with your support.
